All are invited to come and celebrate the gracious and beautiful life of Bob Ewing. The service is on September 21st and will begin at 11am with a light lunch to follow. Childcare will be available.
Sandwich platters and drinks will be provided. Please consider bringing a side or dessert!
Bob is a founding member of St. Columba's, having helped start the community alongside The Rev. Barrie Winn 60 years ago. He is also one of the heartbeats of our life together, a friendly face and loving heart who taught all of us about the gift of loving whoever God puts in front of you as if that person already belonged in your life, your church, and your world. I know that many of you have been able to visit Bob in these past days. He cherished every person in our congregation, known to him or not, and we are much poorer without his presence in our lives each day. And yet - Bob's love is imprinted on this place. As long as we are a community, Bob Ewing will be with us in many ways.
Please join me in praying for the repose of the soul of our brother Bob, and for his daughter Laurie, his sister Nancy, and his grandchildren as they grieve. Please also pray for St. Columba's, for Bob's brothers and sisters in Christ, his clergy, and the many among us whose hearts are broken at his passing.
with care and gratitude,
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother Bob. We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
