The First Sunday After the Epiphany: Identity in Motion

The Rev. Meghan Mullarkey

Text: Isaiah 43:1-7 & Luke 3:15-17, 21-22

"What does that mean to you, to remember your baptism?

In our Isiah passage, God tell us that God calls you by name, that you are God’s - and goes on to say you are precious in God’s sight, honored, and loved.

In the Episcopal tradition we do not believe you have to be baptized for this to be true, but we do believe that baptism orients us towards this truth. So when we get lost, or caught up in some flimsy identity that cannot contain us, we can re-orient to the most unchanging thing about us - we are God’s beloved."
