Dear St. Columba's Community

Life is good! And as Julian of Norwich says ”All shall be well. All Shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well”. But life is changing!

As was announced on Sunday, August 8^th , I am retiring…..mostly. My plans are a little up in the air as far as timing is concerned but I will be moving to Bayview which is a retirement community on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. I am giving up my car when I move, and it would be too far to commute anyway. I’d hardly written that when there is an update. Move will happen near the end of September.

I am retiring from Good Shepherd completely and from in person chores for St. Columba. I will continue to do the accounting tasks for St. Columba into the foreseeable future as I can do that from home with a little support from in person folks at St. Columba. 

The only known thing for now is that I will stop doing in office things when I move. In the case of St. Columba, plans are in the work for how in office tasks will be handled. Good Shepherd is on hold until Josh, rector at Good Shepherd, returns from vacation. Exactly how this will all work out is unknown. St. Columba and Good Shepherd plan to look at possibilities to continue a combined association as that has worked well with me doing both. 

I expect to post pictures and progress notes from time to time as things move forward. My biggest concerns are:

• Helping both churches transition
• Packing – God help me
• Actually moving as I’ll have to hire it done
• Timing!
