From the Associate Vicar: Returning to In-Person Worship
Dear One’s of St. C’s,
What a strange time in a strange year. A time filled with hope, relief, and celebration, but still laced with uncertainty, confusion, and worry. The vaccines in the United States are working and holding up against new variants!! This is incredible news that I would have not dared to hope for so soon this time last year. And yet, it is not currently accessible to children under 12. So, we still have some waiting to do before we can do church without masks, social distancing, and eating food inside. But it is coming. We are slowly loosening things and this Sunday all who are comfortable will gather all together in-person at either 9am or 11am. For those who are not comfortable coming, the 9am will still be on Facebook Live. I encourage to return at your own pace. But for those who are ready, I am so excited to fill our sanctuary with singing, chatter, children’s playing, and the good energy that this community creates together.
We will come together to celebrate the birth of the church, Pentecost. The day when the Christian church began. Jesus has ascended, fulfilled all things, and returned to God. And on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit arrives to be our advocate, our comforter, and to guide us and our church on this earth. As a symbol of this action you are invited to wear red to remember the power of the Holy Spirit in the symbol of fire. It will be fun to be wearing red together, as we remember that it is the Holy Spirit that works in the midst of our community to connect us to God and each other. I am so excited to see who we are now when we are all present in a room together. I feel in this year while we have not been able to physically gather together, we have still experienced so much together. I am so grateful for the ways this community has stayed connected, stayed church, and taken care of each other this past year. I cannot wait to see what will create together as we are able to be physically together again.
with joy,
Meghan
