We will be reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer this Lent. At this year's Diocesan Convention our fellow Indigenous Episcopalians asked that each church develop their own Land Acknowledgment statement. Reading this book is our first step as a community to dig further into an Indigenous perspective and worldview and discuss what it means to face our country's past and turn towards God and a different future. It is in doing this work while reading this book that we hope our Land Acknowledgment statement will come. To learn more about what a Land Acknowledgment statement is click here.
This is our last meeting at 1pm on March 28th. Come join us! Try to have read the chapter, "Collateral Damage", for this Sunday.
Along with the book we will spend the beginning of our time exploring the land that our church building occupies and it's complicated history with local tribes. All are welcome! Zoom link will go out Sunday morning.
