This class will explore Mary, the mother of Jesus - the myth, the legend, and then most significantly the woman who we find in the biblical texts. We will explore what Mary has meant to women throughout the ages and how patriarchy has attempted to capitalize on certain aspects of Mary.  We will spend the majority of our time looking at what the biblical text says about her.  We will do this with the hopes of moving beyond the legend of Mary, in order to uncover what she has to offer us within her humanity.  Come explore with us!
