It is a longtime tradition in the church to bless candles on February 2 each year, so bring your candles from home.  This is a special treat this year, as the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple happens this year on a Sunday! This is one of the larger feast days of the church year and is a highlight of the set of feasts marking God's coming to us as a human in Jesus. 

Both services will feature liturgies where the Presider will pray a blessing over candles you bring to use for the next year in your home.At the 10 a.m. Eucharist, we'll celebrate with children making Christingles - oranges decorated with symbols of the saving work of Jesus Christ.  The later service will conclude with a candlelit procession out of the church, reminding us of our charge to be the light of Christ in the world.
