Stewardship at St. C's - Be a Blessing: Kaylene Moon
This fall as we begin to plan for the next budget year, we will take time as community to share the stories of being blessed by St. Columba's, and choosing to practice blessing through participation in the life of this community, including participating financially.
My heart is bursting with gratitude for St Columba's . I want to share some reasons that this place ,St C's, matters to me, and why I call this my" Safe Place," my spiritual home.
At the end of 2016, my husband Gene, and I began attending St Columba's. Gene was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. At that time our journey became more difficult, the ravages of the disease consumed him and the care giving overwhelmed me.
During his last year of life Gene was in the emergency room 5 times and endured 4 different placements for treatment . I attended Sunday services and the Wednesday healing service where I was able to weep, and at times sob with grief and fear. I was comforted, heard and held. People reached out and opened up to me. Alissa gave Gene last rites . God's angels took him home on 3/26/19. Many from St C's helped to celebrate his life on 4/27/19 .
The love and care of this community continues to support me as I learn to live alone and accept this loss.
I happily pledge to St C.s. We MUST continue to be the "Safe Place and Spiritual home" for others. Thank you all. I love St Columba's.
