For Youth Jan. 27th: Paschal Candle Art with Hester
Youth this week will meet with resident artist Hester Mallonee, to design this year's Paschal Candle, the large candle that sits by our Baptismal font in the Sanctuary. The Paschal Candle is renewed each year at the end of Easter Vigil, and bears the new light, a flame representing the mystery of our salvation through Jesus Christ. You'll especially notice it's significance during Baptisms, when the newly baptised recieve their very own candle, lit from the Paschal Candle, along with the words, "The Light of Christ!".
One of the gifts the Youth at St. Columba's choose to give each year is the design/ideas for the Paschal Candle, typically centering where they're experiencing Christ now, and what their hopes for themselves and the St. Columba's community in the year ahead.
So Youth in Grades 5-12 join us in the Blue Room after the Children's Blessing Song during the 10am Service for Donuts, Discussion, and Liturgical Art!
