Are you feeling Inspired?

St. Columba’s carries on, even as Mother Alissa is about to return from time spent with family, friends, and training other church leaders across the country on ways to identify how they can further develop their congregations to be places of growth and Christian formation. Though we have experienced significant loss, we have also celebrated vitality and growth in our own space. We only gain more when we hear God’s word preached in a variety of our own voices.

Two groups of us are gathering together to read and discuss Rachel Held-Evans’ book Inspired. The discussions so far are both enlightening and enlivening, as we wrestle together with the church’s sacred text. We are finding commonality and diversity in the ways we have been shaped by the Bible, as well as how we shape what it means for us as a community of Christians at St. Columba’s. Honesty, heartache, and hope abound.

We have three active fundraising events currently taking place. We continue to grow funds to build our Memorial Garden. Our annual fund drive for gift cards for teachers at Totem Middke School is up and running again. And we are seeking help to send our youth to summer camps with the diocese. One of the things that makes St. Columba’s the special place we enjoy is how we support the least of those among us. We don’t sit idly by, but we engage our community, within and without, to supply the best of what we have, trusting the God who has already provided for us. We are faithful, because God is faithful.

Please continue to pray for Alissa, our Senior Warden James, and all the ministries at St. Columba’s, as we eagerly await what comes next for us as a people calmed together in Jesus’ name.
